You must write a blog now. You just have one blog and the website is live already.
Yes I am working on it and all the Latin is annoying so I can tell at the very least how much needs to be written.
Stay at home today to do the job.
Wander off to the allotment with all the bags for various purposes. Including lunch so I can sit on the new bench.
Home and blogging about the National Gallery. At least in my head. Trecento painting and how I am drawn to the scale, the colour, the structure. I need to return to the same wonderment soon. In particular I am drawn to the props surrounding the figures.
The head is clear and full of ideas so why is it so impossible to write when doing so seems a natural way of working through the paintings development. As the painting is like a diary so writing becomes a part of the narrative.
Five hundred words is fine. That’s what’s acceptable. Thats all you need. One blog posted in January is a bit thin.
And you need to post more on Instagram. Four is not enough. A bit about the studio holding paintbrushes.
There is someone who repeatedly posts himself on FB holding paintbrushes in a fan shape a bit like Picasso in his studio. But I have done one that is acceptable about me needing to finish painting the shelves.
Years of working figuration and finding background foils has in the last few days turned on its head. Two straight lines effectively slicing a head in two and we have a resolved painting. Good structure. What is suggestive of figuration down the middle panel may be read as abstract painting.
A bit of reflection and return tomorrow to hopefully negotiate with the painting and we have final resolution.
I am feeling optimistic. Based on an original idea using the figure, the painting hints at figuration but comes together as paint in its own right. I end on a high note.
